Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has upheld his promise to enhance pedestrian mobility by removing the barricades outside the former Hilton Hotel that previously limited pedestrian access.

Two days ago, Governor Sakaja declared that the walls of the former upscale hotel would be eliminated while taking a stroll through Nairobi's CBD.

It was completed on Thursday evening to lessen the impact on the busy area's traffic.

To make it easier to navigate the city, the Nairobi City County Mobility and Works Sector has been stepping up repair work on all the walkways along Moi Avenue.

These ongoing projects are anticipated to be finished by the end of April 2023. The Chief Officer for Mobility, Boniface Nyamu, claims that walkways, sometimes referred to as NMTs (non-motorized transport), are an essential mode of transportation in the city and contain areas for walking and bicycling.

Enough walkways serve the bulk of the city's population, he continued, and they are essential for connecting public transportation hubs to workplaces.

Also identified for immediate renovation by the authorities are Tom Mboya, River Road, Accra Road, Latema Road, and Race Course Road.
