Retired Migori governor Okoth Obado and the other defendants will appear in court on May 31 to fix hearing dates in a corruption case in which they are charged.

Obado and the other accused are accused of obtaining a total of Ksh.505.6 million through corruption by using six firms.

On Tuesday, trial magistrate Victor Wakhumile notified the parties in the case that the proceedings were progressed and were still being typed.

Wakhumile took over the case after then-magistrate Lawrence Mugambi was elevated to the Supreme Court.

The former governor and his co-accused face a total of 26 accusations, including conspiracy to conduct economic crimes, conflict of interest, illegal purchase of public property, and laundering of funds.
