The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition has cancelled its scheduled anti-government protests on Thursday.

This comes after the dominant Kenya Kwanza faction agreed to one of Azimio's primary requests to continue the bipartisan discussions by dismissing Eldas Member of Parliament Adan Keynan from its negotiating team.

On Wednesday evening, Azimio informed newsrooms that it had met and resolved to recall its 7-member team for new discussion points during the debates following the Kenya Kwanza action.

According to a statement issued by National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi, the leadership of the Azimio la Umoja coalition met and resolved to suspend the mass protests that were supposed to take place on Thursday.

He added that The coalition took this step following the decision by Kenya Kwanza to accede to one of their demands that informed the resumption of mass action.

Wandayi went on to say that Instead of holding protests, they have summoned their seven-member delegation to the bipartisan committee for new instructions to inform further engagement with the Kenya Kwanza side.

The opposition political faction congratulated its followers for participating in the anti-government protests.

However, the crew added that they would quickly return to the streets if Kenya Kwanza's goodwill is not returned.

He added that As a party, they express deep gratitude to all Kenyans who have participated in the demonstrations to defend justice and democracy in the country.

Azimio la Umoja also fired a warning shot at Speaker Moses Wetangula, who is due to communicate on Thursday about whether Azimio's decision to expel Deputy Minority Whip Sabina Chege from her position holds or not.

The ugunja PM added that they issued a solid warning to Kenya Kwanza for interfering in the internal affairs of Azimio and its affiliate parties, including Jubilee.

"On May 4, 2023, we expect nothing less than an apparent and categorical communication from the Speaker of the National Assembly on Azimio's decision to remove former Deputy Minority Whip Sabina Chege." Any deviation from our expectations will have significant ramifications. At all costs, we must end the culture of political prostitution in this country."
