On Monday, Kenya Kwanza's bipartisan team attempted to reconcile with their Azimio counterparts after being accused of prioritizing their own interests. Senator Boni Khalwale, a member of the team, expressed their willingness to consider Azimio's demands, even if it meant compromising in order to ensure the success of the talks.

“I beg you, I will use my position responsibly, and we have already resumed the parliamentary bipartisan talks.

“We are ready to agree on anything that will ensure Kenya moves forward,” Khalwale remarked.

The legislator also assured Raila that their agreement to engage in dialogue on the issues raised was genuine.

“We will continue talking. We respect the Prime Minister and his team and even if they slight us we will not pay back in kind,” the senator stated.

However, Khalwale was upset by the opposition’s claims that the Kenya Kwanza Bipartisan team was unqualified to handle the parliamentary talks.

“Raila claimed that no one on Ruto’s side qualified for the talks. I am a medical doctor from the University of Nairobi. Raila, you are an engineer, but from which university?

“I have practiced medicine in Kakamega, Machakos, Kisii, Nairobi, and Mombasa. As an engineer (Raila), where have you practiced your profession?” the Senator poked holes.

Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio, had set a 48-hour deadline for Kenya Kwanza to show a united front in the talks or else he would withdraw from them. He also accused the government of using a temporary ceasefire as a ploy to enable Ruto to receive prominent foreign dignitaries.
