President William Ruto has addressed concerns over his recent weight loss, which was noticeable to a segment of Kenyans.

The president was asked why he had recently lost weight months after entering office in a joint media interview at State House Nairobi.

In his statement, Ruto stated that campaigning for the 2022 general election forced him to have erratic eating routines, sometimes overeating or eating at strange hours.

"I had an original fit for around a year and a half to two years. We had elections, and you know, when you have elections, there is a lot of pressure, and sometimes you take it out on food," Ruto explained.

"You have to do this and that, and you don't have time to exercise, and you eat sometimes." Because you never know when you'll have your next meal, you tend to overeat."

The president stated that he had decided to reduce weight since assuming power.

"I decided to shorten it because my friend ile kibarua niko si kidogo (I have a lot of work ahead of me)." As a result, you must be on the lookout for any problems.
