President William Ruto has selected Noordin Haji, Director of Public Prosecutions, to be the next Director-General of the National Intelligence Service (NIS).
The nomination of Haji for the NIS docket comes as the outgoing NIS Director-General, Major-General (Rtd) Philip Wachira Kameru, prepares to retire.
In September 2014, Major-General (RTD) Kameru was named Director-General.

Haji will return to the National Intelligence Service, where he previously served as the Deputy Director of the NIS's Counter Organized Crime Unit, if Parliament approves his nomination.
Haji is anticipated to be vetted by Parliament's Defence and Foreign Relations Committee before being officially appointed to the position by the President.
"In fulfillment of the legal requirements set out in the Constitution and the National Intelligence Service Act, His Excellency the President has transmitted the nomination to the National Assembly for consideration by Parliament," said Head of Public Service Felix Koskei in a statement.
Noordin Haji graduated from the University of Wales, Cardiff, with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and a Master of Laws (LL.M).
He also has a Masters's Degree with Merit in National Security Policy (MNSPO) from the Australian National University.
Haji was admitted to the bar in 1999 and began working for the government in January 2000 as a State Counsel in the Attorney General's Office.
