A crackdown on lawyers practicing without practice certificates has been declared by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).
The LSK President Eric Theuri declared a nationwide crackdown against “quacks,” stating they are collaborating with the National Police Service and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
“We’ve received a number of complaints from members of the public about people posing as advocates.” “This is a campaign that will be carried out throughout the country,” Theuri told media.

“We are working closely with the National Police Service and DPP to ensure proper action is carried out against them.”
Lawyer Cliff Ombeta was singled out by the legal profession and accused of working without a license. LSK claimed to have previously written the litigious city attorney a warning letter.
“We sent a letter to Cliff Ombeta for practising without a certificate.” “He has been appearing in court without a practice certificate,” Theuri stated.
“We urge our trained colleagues to refrain from practising until they have obtained a practising certificate,” he said. If they do, we will file a bar admissions objection when the time comes.”
