If DPP Noordin Haji's nomination is approved by the National Assembly, he will return to the NIS, where he worked as an intelligence specialist.

While the nature and tasks of his profession and lifestyle will be significant changes for him, his compensation will most likely be the same as what he makes at home as DPP.

According to the Remuneration Remuneration Commission, both a DPP and the Director General of the National Intelligence Service are entitled to the same remuneration, Sh765,188, which is calculated as;

Basic salary - Sh459,113

House Allowance - Sh150,000

Market Adjustment - Sh156,075


The sole distinction in remuneration is that a Director of Public Prosecutions receives a sitting allowance, but an NIG DG gets a special assignment allowance.

If Haji is chosen spy head, he will be given an official car with an engine capacity of no more than 3000cc, identical to his current official vehicle.

The two roles also come with an annual medical plan that covers one spouse and up to four children.

Inpatient: Sh10 million 

Outpatient: Sh300,000 

Maternity: Sh150,000 

Dental: Sh75,000 

Optical: Sh75,000

Haji would continue to get an Sh20,000 airtime allowance, a car loan of up to Sh8 million, and a mortgage of up to Sh35 million.

Haji holds an LLB Degree from the University of Wales, Cardiff, a Master's Degree (LLM) from the University of Wales, Cardiff, and a Master of National Security Policy with Merit (MNSPO) from the Australian National University.

In 1999, he was taken into the Bar.

Haji began her career in the public sector in January 2000 as a State Counsel in the Attorney General's Office.

Before being appointed DPP, he was the Deputy Director of the National Intelligence Service's (NIS) Counter Organized Crime Unit, providing legal counsel to the Director General of NIS.
