Kithure Kindiki, Interior Cabinet Secretary, has warned opposition leaders harshly, advising them not to incite youth to join criminal organizations like Mungiki.
Kindiki emphasized that the revival of such criminal organizations threatened the country's unity and stability.
"Any person or leader, regardless of stature or rank, present or past leader, elected or unelected, trying to sign in our young people to join proscribed organizations like Mungiki, we are coming for you," the CS said.
The CS emphasized the region's deep suffering in the past when illegal groups like Mungiki and other outlawed groups terrorized the country.

"The government will not rally the country to regress to the state it was in 20 years ago when Mungiki and other banned groups terrorized our country." Any attempts to resurrect these criminal organizations will be met with the same zeal as the war against banditry or terrorism," Kindiki stated.
"Kenya is a democratic country, but we will not tolerate anyone inciting or undermining the country's unity and stability." Anyone who attempts to undermine our country's unity and indivisibility, whether in opposition or not, must be shunned. "Being opposed does not give you the right to incite discord," he continued.
Kindiki's remark comes after police deployed tear gas to disperse supporters of former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga who had assembled outside the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters.
Njenga had appeared for questioning, escorted by Azimio leaders.
