Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has stated that hundreds of al-Shabab fighters assaulted a Ugandan army facility in Somalia soon before daybreak on Friday.
He accused the Ugandan troops stationed there of failure in a message posted on Twitter.
President Museveni was critical of his soldiers' behaviour when Islamist fighters took over one of their African Union mission camps in Somalia.
He claimed that the soldiers fled in fear. He said this was unnecessary because their defence would have been adequate if they had remained in place.
