In a significant announcement made, the Kenyan Government has issued a new directive aimed at all Kenyan citizens residing in notable local and regional destinations. The announcement was delivered through Huduma Kenya on June 3rd, 2023.

According to the announcement, the Government has implemented a ban on the utilization of National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) membership cards as a means to access healthcare services for Kenyan citizens.



The Kenyan Government has recently declared that the use of National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) membership cards has been discontinued. As a result, all Kenyan citizens who possess NHIF cards are now required to visit the nearest Huduma Centre to undergo NHIF biometric registration.

The Government has emphasized that the completion of NHIF biometrics at Huduma Centres is crucial to ensuring uninterrupted access to health services for Kenyan citizens. This new directive aims to streamline and enhance the healthcare system, making it more efficient and effective for all individuals.


"Important Update: NHIF cards are no longer in use! Visit any of our Centres to complete your NHIF biometrics and ensure uninterrupted access to healthcare benefits," the Government divulged.
