Siaya County Governor James Orengo has encouraged Members of Parliament to consider the public outpouring of concern about the Finance Bill 2023.
Orengo stated that taxpayers are already burdened and that supporting Kenya Kwanza's tax hike ideas would burden the public, who already feel the effects of inflation.
Orengo, speaking at the burial of Patrick Obuong' Wandare in Gem Constituency, pleaded with legislators not to betray the public during Bill's debate next week, adding that taxpayers are already burdened and that approving Kenya Kwanza's tax increase proposals will burden them even more.
Orengo said that the many taxations press Kenyans who donated power to the MPS and are waiting to see if those they entrusted with positions abandon them in their hour of need.

The governor advised MPs not to be duped by the Kenya Kwanza administration's misinformation, which will lead to further issues for the country.
"Let our brothers in the National Assembly debate and decide in accordance with the public's request."
Orengo stated that members of parliament must pay attention so that they can include amendments in the Bill. When there are adjustments in the Bill, it will be a ble to support economic plans.
He said they would be watching national television next week to see how those who abandoned Azimio Leader Raila Odinga will debate the finance bill, adding that MPs should put aside their interests and priorities to serve Kenyans.
The Bill's approval deadline is June 30, 2023, which coincides with the enactment of the Appropriation Law, 2023.
On the other hand, President William Ruto has asked MPs to stop politizing the housing levy, saying that the opposition opposes it for no apparent reason.
"Stop the squabbling over the housing levy. Even the opposition supports the housing plan, and if Azimio were in charge, they would be saying the same thing he is, said the head of state.
According to Ruto, every politician agrees that the proposed housing levy in the Finance Bill 2023 is good for the country.
