Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has revealed that the government has set aside Kes20 billion to enhance security in Northern Kenya.

Speaking during a public baraza at Garissa primary school playground, Professor Kindiki said the terrorism menace in Northern Kenya will end.

The CS revealed that there was a Kenyan soldier killed in the outskirts of Wajir by terrorists who are suspected of having fled from operations by an African Union meeting in Somalia (Amisom) in the neighbouring country.

Further, he noted that the police in Garissa will have decent housing under the Kenya Kwanza administration.

HJe said security will be enhanced with the provision of bulletproof jackets, vehicles and modern equipment to flush out terrorists roaming around the border.

Arising from Professor Kindiki’s visit, Garissa will have a Passport Control office reopened in the area in July.

The office was closed due to security concerns some eight years ago, with passport applicants forced to travel to Nairobi to get the vital travel document.
