Tragedy struck at a Catholic church in Embu as a 24-year-old devout young woman, who had recently been appointed as the church secretary, was discovered killed and dumped in a pit latrine. She had gone out to lunch with her parents the day of the incident, and they had both returned to the church grounds. Her parents continuously called her mobile phone out of concern when she didn't arrive as expected. However, they could not get in touch with her, which increased their anxiety.

The investigation led to the questioning of various individuals, including the church gardener, who originates from Vihiga County. Under the guidance of the labourer, authorities were led to a specific restroom where they conducted a thorough search. Tragically, their search unveiled the lifeless body of the woman. The shocking discovery intensified the gravity of the situation and deepened the investigation into this heinous act.
