Tragedy struck at a Catholic church in Embu as a 24-year-old devout young woman, who had recently been appointed as the church secretary, was discovered killed and dumped in a pit latrine.  According to a report by Nation, Josephine Karimi who had just secured a job at a Catholic Church disappeared mysteriously just to be found dead after four days.

Her lifeless body was found dumped in a pit latrine at St. Mary's Catholic Women Association (CWA) in Kiaragana in Embu. Josephine is said to have disappeared mysteriously just to be found dead after four days. The victim was known for her unwavering commitment to her faith and had been diligently occupied in her church office throughout the week.

She had gone out to lunch with her parents the day of the incident, and they had both returned to the church grounds. Her parents continuously called her mobile phone out of concern when she didn't arrive as expected. However, they could not get in touch with her, which increased their anxiety.

Despite launching an extensive search and disseminating widespread appeals for information, all efforts to locate the missing woman proved fruitless. The investigation led to the questioning of various individuals, including the church gardener, who originates from Vihiga County. During questioning, the gardener provided assurance of her safety, although the circumstances surrounding the situation suggested otherwise.

Under the guidance of the labourer, authorities were led to a specific restroom where they conducted a thorough search. Tragically, their search unveiled the lifeless body of the woman. It became evident that the body had been deliberately murdered and callously discarded in the toilet, likely as an attempt to cover up the crime and erase any potential evidence. The shocking discovery intensified the gravity of the situation and deepened the investigation into this heinous act.
