Nairobi Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina has released the seventy-three people arrested in Nairobi during Friday’s Saba Saba anti-government protests.
This is after the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) declined to prefer charges.
Through counsel Anderson Gikunda, the prosecution told the court that the decision had been made not to prefer criminal charges against the suspects.
Gikunda claimed that the ODPP concluded that the accused expressed their democratic rights after consulting with their attorneys, John Khaminiwa, Otiende Amollo, Haruin Ndubi, and Senator Daniel Maanzo.
