It is dishonest and deceptive to depict President William Ruto on the cover of Time Magazine with the implication that he is one of the world's 50 most influential persons.

According to reports, numerous posts on social media welcomed the President, who took office on September 13, 2022.

The bogus news received over 94,000 views, 416 retweets, 41 quote retweets, and 1,677 likes in one post.

On April 14, 2023, Time, a US-based news publication based in New York, published their list of the 100—rather than the false report's 50—most influential persons in the world.

Recognized were well-known individuals, including artists, icons, pioneers, leaders, titans, and innovators.

Among the famous figures were Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and Twitter, and Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi, who won the Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022.

The list of national leaders included Bola Tinubu, the President of Nigeria, and Olaf Scholz, the chancellor of Germany.

Wanjira Mathai, the daughter of Professor Wangari Maathai, was the sole Kenyan on the list.

Wanjira received recognition for her forestry and land restoration social impact projects.

Andrew Steer, President of the Bezos Earth Fund, fronted her name and lauded her contribution to women's emancipation.

"For more than ten years, I have observed Wanjira at work in both remote communities and worldwide power centres.

Steer observed that throughout her career, "she has focused on restoration—of land, livelihoods, and communities."

President Ruto was recognized as the most influential African leader on Twitter in December 2022 by BCW's Twiplomacy.

In 2022 he was ranked third among the new world leaders and fourteenth overall. The 2022 World Leader Power Ranking report by BCW Global included a list of BCW's Twiplomacy.

As a result, it is untrue and misleading to say that Ruto was listed among The Fifty Most Influential People in Times Magazine.
