Colombian authorities confirm that five politicians and a pilot perished after a small plane crashed in central Colombia on Wednesday.
The five were all members of former President Alvaro Uribe's right-wing Centro Democratico party.
According to the civil aviation authorities, they were on a plane that crashed in the municipality of San Luis de Gaceno in the department of Boyaca.

On Twitter, the party mourned the "tragedy," which took the lives of members such as ex-senator Nohora Tovar, departmental lawmaker Dimas Barrero, aspiring governor Eliodoro Alvarez, and Villavicencio city councillor Oscar Rodriguez.
According to local media, the plane was travelling from Villavicencio to Bogota for a party gathering.
Leftist President Gustavo Petro expressed his sympathies on Twitter.
