President William Ruto praised police officers for keeping the peace during Wednesday's anti-government protests headed by Azimio la Umoja.

President Ruto said at a roadside address in Isiolo on Thursday that police officers remained persistent in defending Kenyans' lives and property, even as demonstrators engaged in vicious running skirmishes with anti-riot police officers.

"I want to congratulate our police for being bold and ensuring that there is peace and that action is taken against all offenders so that we can ensure that there is peace in Kenya and that people's property is protected," he said.

The head of state added that kenya is the only home kenyans have and must be protected at all costs.

The Head of State also denounced those who vandalized property nationwide, stating that sabotaging the nation's healing economy will not be tolerated.

President Ruto said Kenyans do not want violence, chaos, anarchy, or destroying property and businesses. They want a democratic country, and the opposition leader should respect ordinary citizens' votes.

"There is no way we are going to change what our democracy stands for and what our country stands for. All of us must protect our country and every Kenyan has said that we cannot sabotage our economy using violence." he remarked.

Ruto's remarks come after foreign dignitaries raised concerns over the violence and destruction of properties witnessed in past demonstrations organized by the opposition.
