Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has resurfaced after missing for days during planned protests by the opposition with unverified reports of a government-imposed house arrest.

Musyoka's press aid claimed on Friday he had been placed under house arrest with his Twitter account inactive until Friday night, which was intended to be the final day of a three-day protest when he directly addressed concerns over his whereabouts.

According to a telephone interview with TV47, Kalonzo said he was apprehensive of being arrested had he stepped out of his home.

“Of course, it is not right psychologically to feel you can’t leave your house. It’s really a combination of forced imprisonment and house arrest,” he said.

On Friday, as the opposition gathered to stage what was planned to be the third day of anti-government rallies but major leaders were notably absent, reports of Kalonzo's apparent house arrest began to circulate.

In a tweet, the former Vice President's spokeswoman, Paloma Gatabaki, stated that he had been placed under house arrest as of Tuesday night. 



Later, Azimio leader Raila Odinga would confirm Gatabaki's claim by revealing that Kalonzo was under house arrest and posting images of a group of Azimio leaders at the gate of Kalonzo's home.
