In the now-viral video, the student reprimanded the leaders for arriving late at the meeting they called to discuss the issue. She accused the leaders of constantly lying to them about when the scholarships would be available. The parents are upset because their children stayed home for two years after they sold their property and took out large debts to send them to study overseas.
The young lady noted that the children of the politicians have all moved to Australia or Europe, adding that the politicians have given their children a headstart while the children of poor people still languish in absolute poverty.
Governor Jonathan Bii distanced himself from the Finland scholarship fee payment incident last month, saying that former governor Jackson Mandago (now Uasin Gishu Senator) should come forward and explain what happened.
According to EACC, the inquiry into the issue began in March 2023 and is nearly finished.
The results will then be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for consideration on the following steps.
