In an apparent response to opposition leader Raila Odinga's criticism of US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman, the Speaker stated that diplomats play an important role in international collaboration, which Kenya has tremendously profited from, and should be appreciated.

Wetangula advised lawmakers and citizens to put peaceful discourse and international relations first.

He emphasized the crucial necessity of diplomacy and international relations and the need to maintain respect for foreign Ambassadors and their respective countries.

He warned against using fiery language that could deter potential investors and harm the country's image, citing recent unrest.

"Kenya should not allow politicians to employ regressive politics that drive away potential investors," Wetangula declared, asking Kenyans to adopt progressive discourse that improves the country's worldwide standing.

In his speech, the Speaker emphasized the importance of constructive communication in dealing with domestic concerns.

"As Kenyans, we must speak and handle our issues amicably," Wetangula said, underlining the importance of peaceful discourse in accomplishing national objectives.

Wetangula drew attention to a recent diplomatic episode in which a prominent leader publicly attacked a foreign envoy.

He believed such behaviour to be unhelpful, emphasizing the importance of Kenyan leaders demonstrating diplomatic maturity despite political differences.

Wetangula highlighted the irony of some persons criticizing the electoral process and then seeking support from the same foreign Ambassadors they had condemned in the aftermath of the previous year's General Election.

Wetangula further on the function of diplomats, emphasizing their representation of their countries' heads of state and people.

He asked for a better grasp of the bilateral connections that underpin international diplomacy.
