Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has joined the call for Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba to appear before the National Assembly to answer allegations of mistreatment of Kenyan athletes.
Cherargei took to X on Sunday, demanding Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah, who recommended summoning Namwamba for accountability, to do the same.

He claimed that officials from the Sports Ministry travel with "girlfriends" at the expense of the nation's top sports representatives.
"I echo [the] sentiments of Hon. Ichungwa Majority Leader National Assembly that CS Ababu continues to mismanage into oblivion our beloved sports. How can ministry officials fly first class with their girlfriends to Olympics Budapest, Hungary at the expense of our athletes?" he wrote.
"Our female athletes being exploited sexually & economically! Parliament must summon CS sports to avert disastrous mismanagement of our sports!"

During a House debate, Ichungwa expressed dissatisfaction with the ministry's failure to recognize Kenyan athletes who excel in overseas events.
Ichung'wah described it as "appalling" to see teams return to the country while no one from the Sports Ministry tries to rejoice or welcome them.
In what he called a failure, Ichung'wah claimed that CS Namwamba has been unable to handle Kenya's sportsmen and women and is instead wallowing in the government's advantages.
Ichung'wah said that Namwamba travels with "joyriders" that accompany him worldwide, but they are incompetent.
He also apologized to the Kenyan athletics team, pledging to do everything in his power to eliminate the threat.
