President William Ruto has insisted that his government will not allow any form of engagement involving sharing power and creating positions to accommodate the political interests of a few leaders.
Speaking on Tuesday, Ruto said some individuals are still negotiating for positions of power, reminding them that the political season was long gone.
“Kuna majamaa wanatuzungusha ati wanataka tuongee… ati ndio kazi ipatikane. Mnataka tuendelee na hii mambo ya nusu mkate? Hiyo watu nimewaambia wakwende kabisa. Kazi ya viongozi tulimaliza last year tarehe tisa mwezi wa nane,” said Ruto.
His sentiments come shortly after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua made the same remarks in Machakos County on Tuesday.
Gachagua revealed that Azimio leader Raila Odinga held a private meeting with President Ruto where he made personal requests for a truce with the government.

“Sasa Kalonzo, kiongozi wa heshima, mtu amesoma, mtu wa sheria, amepewa agenda kwenda kuzungumza mambo ya kuzunguka round. Raila hakuna kitu anatafuta, alitaka tumpatie serikali nusu mkate tukasema hakuna. Alitaka ati handshake tukamwambia hakuna. Akasema ambassador tatu tukamwambia hakuna. Tukasema ukitaka pesa kidogo ya kukula we can discuss, ukienda nyumbani. Aende akiendanga.”
The DP claimed that during the meeting in Mombasa, Odinga issued terms of engagement and requested the appointment of his friends to high-ranking positions in the government.
The deputy president claims that Ruto offered a send-off package and turned down requests to create any new government positions.
