The court has denied businesswoman Nancy Kigunzu, famously known as 'Mathe wa Ngara' in the streets, bail in a drug trafficking case.
In its decision on the bail application, the court ruled that the businesswoman is a flight risk due to her involvement in drug trafficking.
Further, Magistrate Njeri Thuku ruled that granting her bond was not in the best interests of justice.
Mathe wa Ngara and the third accused, Eugine Jumbo, who was also denied bail, will remain in custody until the drug trafficking case is heard and decided.
However, her co-accused, Teresia Wanjiru, has been granted Kes 50,000 cash bail but will be required to provide contact information for two people, one of whom is a blood relative, and to appear before the JKIA law courts within seven days to file a social report.

'Mathe Wa Ngara' has been detained since her arrest on August 21 in connection with a drug bust in Nairobi's Ngara area, where Kes 13.4 million in cash was also seized.
The court heard from Kigunzu, who passed out during the bail hearing on Monday, that her medical condition necessitates ongoing monitoring and treatment, and that she is concerned that if she is denied bail, it would get worse.
When she appeared before Magistrate Njeri Thuku, Kigunzu denied claims that she posed a flight risk and may skip court.
Although she was detained in the Nairobi Central Business District, Kigunzu claimed through her attorney, Danstan Omari, that her children were detained in a residential building because she has a residence, and the police are aware of this.
She further denied assertions that she would interfere with the case's witnesses by pointing out that they all were police officers and that she lacked the authority to do so.
Teresia Wanjiru, Kigunzu's co-defendant, and the other two defendants, were present in court and requested bail as well.
The accused claim through their solicitors that the prosecution has not proven compelling evidence to support keeping them in custody.
