Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has pleaded with ODM leader Raila Odinga to allow MPs from his aid to work with the government on development projects.
Speaking during the launch of commercial flights at Lichota Airstrip in Migori, the CS said that there is a need for collaborative efforts between the opposition and the government to foster development and called on Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko to engage in discussions with Azimio leader to determine the way forward.
“If a consensus could be reached on development-related matters, it would pave the way for elected leaders to engage with the government, including meetings with the president,” said the CS.
Murkomen urged Azimio's leader against mixing politics and development, noting situations in which certain ODM MPs who met with the president to address development issues faced disciplinary action inside the party. He said that he would like to work with leaders from the opposition but would not like to get the members in trouble.

"The focus should be on the well-being of our people and the development of our regions. Mixing politics with leaders seeking development is counter-productive," Murkomen said.
Migori Woman Representative Fatuma Mohammed said that she will demonstrate if the bipartisan talks do not work, to which Murkomen responded that there is no need for maandamano.
“I don't think it is necessary for people to go to maandamano that we saw the other day. There is absolutely nothing that people cannot talk about in this country,” Murkomen added.
