The 26-year-old man's body was finally found after he tripped and plunged into Gicheru Water Falls in Kirinyaga County.

The body of Fidel Omondi Otieno was found Thursday at 6:30 p.m. by local divers working with police officers and the locals, according to Gichugu Sub-County Police Commander Edward Ndirangu.

According to the police commander, Omondi, who manages a guesthouse in Nairobi's Lavington neighborhood, was one of six city residents who traveled to the Kiringa River waterfalls.

Gicheru is said to have fallen into the waters while taking a shot on a tourist trip to the falls.

Since the event on Wednesday, the victim's whereabouts have remained a mystery. The surging floods carried him away.

There were eight of them. According to the police commander, two were from Kutus in Kirinyaga, and six were from Nairobi.

Before the body was removed and transferred to Kerugoya mortuary Friday night, locals and friends gathered by the riverbank.

The body was discovered 50 meters from the alleged drowning location.
