EACC detectives detained a National Police Service (NPS) Deputy OCS and a Police Constable (PC) for soliciting a Ksh.50,000 bribe to "facilitate" the release of a vehicle impounded at Ikino Police Station in Kiambu County.
After refusing to release the vehicle, Police Inspector George Chacha and PC Elizabeth Mwongeli Chacha were detained on Monday after receiving a bribe from the complainant, who had reported the case to EACC.
According to an EACC source, The two officers demanded Ksh.50,000 from the complainant as "motivation money" for the Deputy OCS to release the complainant's motor vehicle, which he had adamantly refused to release despite a valid court order presented to him by the complainant.
They were processed at the EACC Integrity Centre Police Station before being moved to the Kilimani Police Station, where they are now being held pending legal proceedings.
