At least 13 people have been killed in Spain's deadliest nightclub fire in decades. Rescue workers believe that the number of casualties will go higher.
According to officials, the cause of the fire that engulfed the Teatre venue in Murcia, Spain's southeastern city, is still unknown.
Murcia emergency services website noted that Two women and two men were also injured and sent to the hospital due to smoke inhalation. As rescue personnel worked, survivors gathered outside the nightclub.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez sent his condolences to the family and victims.
“My love and solidarity with the victims and families of the tragic fire that occurred this morning in a nightclub in Murcia. I have just conveyed to the president of the Murcia region all our support and collaboration,” Sanchez posted on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
At the time of the event, emergency services were called in, and local firefighters requested helicopter assistance to fight the fire.
Spokesperson for the emergency services said that The General Director of Security and Emergencies, Ricardo Villalba, is on-site coordinating with the Murcia City Council the necessary means to manage this tragedy.
The Murcia nightclub fire is the deadliest in Spain in 33 years. In 1990, a fire at a nightclub in northern Zaragoza killed 43 people.
In December 1983, 81 people were murdered in a Madrid nightclub fire, which was exacerbated by smoke, a lighting system failure, and a closed emergency entrance.
Murcia mayor José Ballesta ordered three days of mourning for those who died in the fire that occurred at the Teatre de Atalayas nightclub.
