National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula faces allegations of orchestrating the impeachment of Governor George Natembeya of Trans Nzoia County.
Reports suggest that a faction of Trans Nzoia county assembly members accuses Wetangula of instigating certain MCAs to pursue the impeachment of the Democratic Action party governor, who has been critical of him.
It's claimed that Wetangula, along with some ward representatives, discussed the governor's impeachment in a recent meeting. The Speaker reportedly convened with a faction of county assembly members affiliated with Kenya Kwanza parties to strategize the removal of the governor, his deputy, and the majority leader in the assembly.
However, MCAs aligned with the governor have rebuffed the Speaker's alleged plans, vowing to resist any attempt to impeach their leader. They accuse Wetangula of resorting to threats and intimidation when faced with criticism, asserting that he refuses to tolerate challenges to his influence in the region.
Governor Natembeya, known for his outspoken stance against the Speaker, has criticized Wetangula, blaming him for hindering progress in Western Kenya.
