Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has disclosed that the Limuru III conference has shadow sponsors who might be willing to lavish money on the attendees. Speaking on Citizen TV’s Tonight Show on Thursday, CS Kuria, who rescinded his decision to attend the conference, mentioned that the event, which attracts leaders from the Mt Kenya region, has sponsors from across the political spectrum.
Although Kuria did not name the specific sponsors of the event, he indicated his awareness of the wealthy individuals backing the conference, revealing that an unnamed person had already donated Ksh.10 million to the meeting.
The controversial CS then humorously advised attendees not to leave the conference empty-handed, noting that there was "enough money" for everyone.
“Someone is sponsoring Limuru III. There are people sponsoring it…I know someone who has put Ksh.10 million on it and I want to tell people attending Limuru III that don’t go home hungry, pesa iko,” Kuria said.
The CS criticized the organizers of the meeting, stating that unlike the previous Limuru I and II conferences, which had a clear national agenda, the Limuru III event lacked a defined objective.

Kuria argued that having participated in Limuru I and II, he was familiar with the political dynamics of the region and could have played a significant role in addressing economic matters if he had been permitted to attend.
“Someone is sponsoring Limuru 3 for their own reasons. Limuru has always been for the good of the nation. From the bottom of my heart, I meant to support Limuru 3. I would have wanted to go and tell Limuru where we are, in terms of the economy we have to have sacrifices, we have to think long term,” he said.
“Limuru I was a nationalist agenda because Kibaki was saying, we can stay in one corner and the rest of the country is moving elsewhere. Limuru II came during the ICC situation. Limuru II met and resolved that William Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta at that time had every right to be on the ballot in 2012, which became 2013…so it was a national agenda. Meeting by the region, but agenda was national.”
Regarding his decision to miss out on the guest list, despite announcing on Wednesday that he would be among the sponsors, Kuria explained that Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, who is one of the organizers of the initiative, had rescinded his invitation.
“I was part of Limuru 1, I was part of the organizers for Limuru 2 and I don’t see anything wrong with Limuru 3. Only to wake up yesterday and Kioni is speaking all over, fighting me, saying the way I am not invited and I am inviting myself. I thought this was a community meeting,” Kuria explained.
