The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has finalized its new parliamentary leadership appointments.

Suba East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed has been nominated as the new Minority Leader in the National Assembly. This appointment means he will succeed Opiyo Wandayi, the Ugunja MP, who was nominated as the Cabinet Secretary for Energy by President William Ruto.

Suba North Member of Parliament Millie Odhiambo has been nominated as the new Minority Whip in the National Assembly, taking over the role previously held by Junet Mohamed. Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has also been appointed as the Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly, a position formerly held by John Mbadi, who was recently nominated as the Cabinet Secretary for Treasury in President William Ruto's government.

Despite being nominated as the Minority Whip, Millie Odhiambo had aspired to the position of Minority Leader. She expressed her feelings in a now-deleted Facebook post on Tuesday, where she outlined her qualifications, stating that she was experienced both politically and professionally. She highlighted that she was the senior-most member of ODM in the National Assembly, having served as an MP since 2007. Odhiambo also mentioned that her selection would have addressed the issue of women inclusivity in leadership roles.

After losing the Minority Leader position to Junet Mohamed, Millie Odhiambo took to her Facebook account to express her sentiments, writing, "I love me regardless and irregardless."
