City Lawyer Donald Kipkorir has claimed that Governor Kawira Mwangaza's impeachment can be attributed to her husband, Murega Baichu. Kipkorir argued that Baichu's involvement in county affairs negatively impacted Mwangaza's leadership, leading to widespread animosity against her.
It is alleged that Governor Kawira Mwangaza's husband, Murega Baichu, has been influencing her decisions, leading to her downfall and eventual impeachment. According to Lawyer Donald Kipkorir, Mwangaza took on more than she could handle this time, so the Senate ultimately failed to defend her.
"It maybe true love & most probably it is, but the tragic fall of Meru Governor Mwangaza Kawira may lie in the guitar strings of her husband Murega Baichu. H.E Bishop Mwangaza Kawira seemed unable to comprehend her higher calling as the first female leader of the patriarchal Meru Community. Being a female leader of such Community as Margaret Thatcher showed meant being the alpha male in the room! Senate, twice saved her but third time, they had no choice but allow her to fall! Ms Kawira punched above her weight!" Kipkorir said.
Kenyans have also supported this statement by Kipkorir. They have gone ahead to compare her leadership to that of other female governors like Anne Waiguru, Wavinya Ndeti and Susan Kihika. It turns out that, despite them being married to prominent men in they have kept them away from county governance.
