Renowned journalist Sam Gituku has posed a question to the newly elected treasury CS John Mbadi that has left Kenyans talking. "Why are you in government? Did you take advantage of the Gen Z protests to enter government?" Kituku questioned.

ODM's John Mbadi is a seasoned politician with four terms as a Member of Parliament. Mr. Mbadi has held notable positions, including Finance Director for Medair East Africa's South Sudan Programme and senior accountant at the University of Nairobi.

Sam Gituku further questioned Mbadi especially on the issue to do with teachers which the CS did not hesitate to answer.

According to Mbadi, the Kenyan exchequer lacks the financial capacity to hire 20,000 Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers on permanent and pensionable terms.

Responding to Citizen host Sam Gituku's inquiry about the government's efforts to address teachers' grievances, Mbadi disclosed a Ksh.13 billion shortfall, which, as initially estimated, is hindering the recruitment of additional JSS teachers. Some would contend that Mbadi would not be CS if it weren't for the GenZ's resistance.
