Mbadi John Ng'ongo is a Kenyan politician. He belongs to the Orange Democratic Movement and was elected to represent the Gwassi Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya since the 2007 Kenyan parliamentary election.

After consultations within the Orange party, the ODM chairman dropped his HomaBay gubernatorial bid in the lead-up to the August 9 General Election.

Mbadi differs with Raila During an event in his former Suba South constituency, the lawmaker vowed to actualise his ambition of becoming the Homa Bay governor.

Mbadi disclosed that he had settled on succeeding former governor Cyprian Awiti in the August polls but was talked out of the idea by the Azimio leader. He was categorical that despite respecting Raila, he would not listen if told to drop his bid in the 2027 General Election.

The nominated MP added that he would only change his mind about vying if convinced by the Homa Bay electorate. "In the last election, my heart had decided that I would be the governor, but Raila blocked me in the middle. And that is the last time he's blocking me. I really respect him, but in 2027, no matter what he says, you are the ones who will stop me," said the lawmaker.

Mbadi further observed that in his current stature within the Kenyan political scene, he is eligible to vie for president, deputy president, governor, senator and Suba MP seats.


He stated that, at the moment, they were observing how their opponents were behaving in the political field before making the next decisive step. "I can vie for all the remaining seats. Be it the president, deputy president, governor, senator and Suba MP, I want. Those are five seats. But this is not the time. Let us observe and see how these people are behaving on the field," the ODM national chairman added.
