Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has leveled serious accusations against President William Ruto, alleging that he orchestrated his impeachment and used money to bribe lawmakers.

Speaking recently, Gachagua said, “Everybody knows the worst-kept secret in this country: the President planned my impeachment and paid MPs and senators to support it.”

He claimed each Member of Parliament received KSh 350,000 while senators were given KSh 10 million to back the motion.

He also accused the President of bribing the person who brought the impeachment motion, the MP for Kibwezi West.

Gachagua used the example of the Finance Bill to show how MPs follow the President without question.

“When the President told them to pass the Finance Bill, they passed it, even though Kenyans were against it.

Later, when Gen Z protesters pushed the President to change his mind, the same MPs clapped for him,” he said.

He added that MPs are no longer independent and do not speak for the people.

“They never argue with him,” he said, suggesting that Parliament has become a tool for the President.

Gachagua’s statements have sparked widespread debate across the country, coming at a time when many Kenyans are demanding greater transparency and accountability in government.

So far, there has been no official response from State House or parliamentary leaders regarding the allegations.

Meanwhile, Kenyans on social media are calling for investigations, questioning whether their elected officials are genuinely representing the people—or merely taking orders from above.
