Following comments made by Azimio leaders during a rally in Machakos last week, Gladys Boss Shollei, the deputy speaker of the National Assembly, has defended proposed member of parliament Sabina Chege.

Shollei expressed remorse that the Azimio team treated Chege poorly despite having backed the alliance during the previous election.

In a statement on Tuesday, Shollei stated, "It is disgraceful what Azimio rallies are becoming into with our big sister Hon. Martha Karua is shocking.observing and encouraging the actions in this theatre of absurdity."

Azimio leaders have harshly criticized the former Murang'a Woman Representative for endorsing President William Ruto.

Attacks started after Chege attended a meeting at State House with 31 other Jubilee Party leaders.

At the very least, she said, "we encourage Martha Karua to step up and reject this wanton attempt to convert Azimio gatherings into the site where women leaders are humiliated, denigrated, and exposed to mean-spirited name-calling and uncalled-for lewd jokes."

Shollei also denounced the comments made on Sunday in Busia by MP for Mumias East Peter Salasya toward Bomet Woman Representative Linet Toto.

She warned that the nation would take a terrible turn if nothing happened.

"Gender equality in our country has come too far; nobody should think we will throw in the towel and allow them to undo the progress we have achieved as women to get respect and equality from all Kenyans, especially ourrenowned leaders," she continued.

Shollei advised the two leaders to apologize to the two female leaders and to keep their words in check in the future.

During last week's weekend, Mumias East MP Peter Salasya said that he would impregnate Linet Tot if she continued talking ill about Raila Odinga.

Linet Toto said that Raila Odinga started his demonstrations before she was even born, a statement that led to many talks, especially on social media platforms.
