Amani National Congress (ANC) Party leaders have rubbished claims by the secretary general for the UDA party for parties to dissolve and join the ruling party.
On Monday last week, cleophas malala asked party leaders with government positions to step down from party positions and join the ruling party.
“He should resign and allow us to engage the next party leader of FORD Kenya on matters dissolution. He cannot contribute because he is a State officer and State officers are not allowed to contribute on matters political parties and participate in politics. That is the position of the constitution,” Malala said.
While speaking to the media in vihiga, ANC party leader Issa Timamy, SG Beatrice Adagala and MP Omboko Milemba said that their party would remain independent and is planning to hold grassroots registration for its members.

“We are not going to fold our party. If anything, we are planning to rejuvenate and strengthen our party from grassroots levels. ANC will remain vibrant,” Timamy said.
“We have rolled out recruitment in the whole country. We are ready, we are in Kenya Kwanza, fully supporting President Ruto and we know our plan is to see Kenyans live a dignified life,” Adagala added.
The party statement comes barely a week after the UDA secretary general cleophas malala asked parties under the kenya kwanza alliance to dissolve their parties and join the ruling party.
The speaker of the national assembly, Moses wetangula, the leader of the FORD-Kenya party, has also dismissed the claims by malala. Speaking during a church Harambee in Kakamega county, the national assembly speaker said that kenyans are democratic and should be allowed to make their own political choices.
Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula reacted to the claims by saying that the request to dissolve parties would deter democracy, adding that Kenya is a multi-party state under the constitution.
