The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has denied changing party officials in Kakamega County.

The party announced on Monday that they were made aware of claims claiming leadership changes in the county.

The stories were deemed deceptive by ODM, which stated that no election or replacement of officials will occur without the express sanction of the National Elections Board (NEB), as required by law. They underlined that changes in party leadership are subject to a party election later this year and that those who choose to quit before then should do so by the law.

"Should any party official wish to resign or relinquish their position, they are advised to follow the laid down procedure by formally writing to the NEB who will then, pursuant to the Party's Election and Nomination Rules advise on how the position(s) should be filled," read part of the statement.

Meanwhile, persons interested in the previous posts are asked to begin familiarising themselves with the rules that govern grassroots elections before the announcement of the election date.

Last month ODM filed a petition to suspend members of the party who had met with President William Ruto at the state house, disobeying party orders.

ODM leader Raila Odinga has refused to acknowledge ruto as the president of Kenya, claiming that he is the one who won the elections. Still, the votes were stolen in favour of President Ruto. He has blamed the former IEBC chair, Wafula Chebukati, for colluding with government officials to rig the polls.

Elisha Odhiambo, a Gem Constituency Member of Parliament, was kicked out of the Orange Democratic Movement party on Friday.
