Prominent activist Boniface Mwangi recently provided an update, announcing a planned protest against the government's intention to impose high taxes on Kenyans through the contentious Finance Bill 2023. The protest is scheduled to commence at 8:00 AM from Jevanjee Gardens. Mwangi urged participants to bring along four specific items that will be utilized during the demonstrations.

Boniface stated that they had already informed the Police about the protest and only expected them to offer security during the entire protest period.

"There is a peaceful protest tomorrow to #RejectTheFinanceBill2023. The assembly point is Jevanjee Gardens. The Police, @IG_NPS have been notified and they are supposed to provide security. Carry a flag, whistle, placard, water, and let your voice be heard. Say no to tax slavery." The activist posted on his official social media pages.

Although the bill has not been officially presented in the National Assembly for voting, the planned protests are still occurring. It is widely believed that the bill will receive approval as the government holds a majority in the National Assembly, indicating they are likely to vote in favour of it.

The resistance against the finance bill of 2023 has been steadily growing in intensity, with civil societies, activists, politicians, and ordinary Kenyans openly expressing their opposition to it. Notably, the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party led by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has actively taken a stand against the government, particularly when they perceive policies that could negatively impact Kenyans.

Raila's party has been proactive in opposing the government's actions, going as far as organizing demonstrations a few months ago to voice their discontent. This active involvement by the Azimio la Umoja coalition showcases their commitment to standing up for the rights and interests of the Kenyan people, particularly when they believe government decisions could be detrimental to the citizens.

In addition, various other groups are now prepared to join in protest against the government's actions.
