It was a great pleasure as usual to meet and exchange notes with my friend Senator @ChrisCoons. An afternoon well spent. pic.twitter.com/DuXrzXSEiz

The opposition leader informed him of committee topics such as lowering the high cost of living, auditing the 2022 election results, reconstituting the IEBC, interfering with political party activities, and outstanding constitutional issues such as border elimination.

Odinga is also alleged to have objected to police brutality witnessed during opposition-sanctioned large protests, where police deaths and injuries were reported.

The technical committee chosen by both factions will hold a preliminary meeting before the 10-member team meeting to build the framework for the talks.

According to reports, Azimio planned to invite members of the diplomatic corps and religious leaders to the negotiations. But Kenya Kwanza urged that their inclusion be delayed until teething problems were overcome.

The dialogue team has yet to determine timetables for the talks and which agenda items would be prioritized, with both sides emphasizing the importance of political goodwill in dealing with the issues at hand.

The Azimio Technical Committee includes Jubilee Party Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni, Adams Oloo, Zein Abubakar, and Lynn Ngugi, while Kenya Kwanza has included Lawyer Muthomi Thiankolu, Linda Musumba, Nick Biketi, and Duncan Ojwang.

Even as Kenyans await the outcome of the discussions, government officials led by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki, who spoke separately, have stated unequivocally that no power-sharing agreement would be struck.
