Simbas have increased their training in preparation for November test matches in the upcoming Victoria Cup in Uganda.
A 38-man squad called up by head coach Jerome Paarwater is hard at training in Kakamega as the South African strategist gets his first look at his new team since taking over in March of this year.
"I think the guys are obviously happy and excited to be back at the Victoria Cup training camp." Our first game is against Zambia, followed by a match versus Uganda.
“After the Currie Cup, there was a long layoff, and the guys are happy to get into the squad, and we are also fortunate to have most of the guys without injuries and still ready to play.
“There are a few guys with the sevens (Shujaa) who are not currently with the squad but there are other guys who are there and all happy to play. The guys are happy to play before the Kenya Cup also starts so that the guys can finish with the international games they have to play so they can focus on the Kenya cup,” Paarwater said.
Paarwater will attempt to assemble a team that can compete in the Victoria Cup and Elgon Cup next month, with help from Kabras Sugar's Carlos Katywa and KCB's Curtis Olago.
Simbas will play Kabras in a friendly encounter today as they prepare to face Zambia in their first Victoria Cup match on November 1st, 2023, at the Kyadondo grounds in Kampala.
