Atletico Madrid easily defeated Alaves 17th at the Metropolitano stadium thanks to goals from Alvaro Morata and Rodrigo Riquelme's opening strike.
For Alaves, Ander Guevara made a last-ditch effort, but it was too little, too late.

Atletico has now won 14 straight league games at home, matching the club record that was set in 2013 at the Vicente Calderon, their former home.
“(The record) is not by chance, at home with our fans we feel more comfortable, they make us feel stronger, this win is very important for us,” Riquelme told Movistar.

“We’re on the right path, going game by game and we aren’t thinking about the league table.”
After 26 minutes, Antoine Griezmann slipped in Morata, who crossed to the back post, to give Atletico the lead, which was scored by Riquelme.
With a deft move, the Spanish midfielder created space and sent a shot into the near top corner.

Just before the break, Morata doubled Atletico's lead after collecting a long ball from Koke, cutting inside from the right, and sweeping home.
Atletico mostly dominated, with Griezmann having a goal disallowed in the second half for a foul committed in the build-up by Marcos Llorente.
Guevara's strike from the edge of the box late into stoppage time gave Alaves a response, and goalie Jan Oblak shared some of the guilt because he ought to have stopped the shot.
“We were a lot better in the second half, we should have played like that in the first half,” Alaves defender Javi Lopez told Movistar.
“We haven’t had good results away from home … (but) if we compete like this, the results will come.”
Earlier, Rayo Vallecano and the high-flying Real Sociedad shared a 2-2 draw thanks to a superb late goal from Bebe.
After scoring a crucial goal in stoppage time against Las Palmas last weekend, the former Manchester United midfielder did so again this week.
After Abdul Mumin gave Rayo the lead, Mikel Oyarzabal scored twice for La Real to take the lead, but Bebe tied the score with a long-range, low drive.
After Isco's incredible late goal helped Betis defeat Osasuna 2-1 earlier in the game, Rayo Vallecano is now tied for seventh place with eight points.
The former Real Madrid playmaker set up Willian Jose for the opening goal. In stoppage time, Isco thrilled Benito Villamarin with a strike that went in after Ruben Garcia seemed to have saved the visitors a point.
