Centrine Simiyu, the captain of Bungoma Queens, a team in the Kenya Women's Premier League (KWPL), is ecstatic to have received her first call-up to the Harambe Starlets women's national football team for outstanding performances this season.
With the Bungoma-base club, Centrine is having a breakout season. Under coach Robert Machio, she has shown off her strong leadership qualities as captain.
"Of course, am very happy to be called for the first time to play for my country, I want to thank God, my coach, my teammates, and the entire management of the club for their support," she stated.
Machio, the tactician for Queens, has expressed his happiness at her incredible accomplishment and encouraged her to aim for a starting position on the national team.

Team manager Celestimatic Munyafu echoed his thoughts, praising Simiyu for her admirable work ethic.
"She has been a disciplined girl and a good leader and has made us proud.
“We started with her when we were at regional level, division one, and now are in the league, am very confident that she will impress Harambe Starlets coach."
Her brilliant performances this year have contributed significantly to the team's incredible start to the 2023–24 campaign, as they are currently ranked third in the KWPL standings after six games played.
In their Nairobi training camp, Centrine has reconnected with her Starlets teammates ahead of their November 29th, 2024 Africa Women's Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifying match against Botswana.
