Jose Mourinho, the manager of Roma, has ruled out the idea of taking over as Brazil's next manager, stating that his loyalty is to his Italian Serie A team.

"Brazil haven't spoken to me directly," he said after Roma's Italian Cup last 16 win on Wednesday evening.

"I told my agent not to speak to anyone before we know if Roma want me to stay on or not," added the Portuguese.

"I don't believe in the rumors linking other managers to this job. I'm confident in the Friedkin Group (Roma's American owners).

"I don't doubt their honesty and I've got no reason to think they are negotiating with other coaches behind my back," he continued.

The sixty-year-old Mourinho assumed leadership of Roma in July of 2021; his current deal expires in June.

He guided the Italian capital team to the Europa League final last season, winning the first-ever Europa League Conference title in 2022. The team finished sixth in Serie A the previous two seasons.

Roma is currently in seventh place, 17 points behind leaders Inter Milan, and Mourinho has openly criticized the caliber and depth of his team.

The club's financial fair play restrictions have forced them to exercise restraint regarding him in the transfer market.

Conversely, Brazil is going through one of the worst crises in its illustrious and lengthy history, as evidenced by the Selecao finishing sixth in South America and missing out on the 2026 World Cup.

Carlo Ancelotti, the candidate Brazil hoped to select as their next manager, declared last week that he was staying at Real Madrid, extending his contract with the Spanish powerhouse until 2026.
