Faith Kipyegon will return to Paris, where she broke the 5000m world record last year, for the eighth Diamond League of the season on July 7. The Kenyan star will headline a stellar lineup of world-class athletes just weeks before attempting a historic 1500m three-peat in the same city.

Kipyegon, who holds the world records in the 1500m and one-mile events, recently showcased her dominance at the Summer Games trials at Nyayo Stadium, where she secured victories in both the 5000m and 1500m, earning her spots in both events.

Last year, Kipyegon shattered the 5000m world record with a time of 14:05.20, though the record was later broken by Gudaf Tsegay. Despite this, Kipyegon ended the season as the Diamond League champion, claiming her fourth career Diamond Trophy in the 1500m. Remarkably, her record-breaking 5000m performance came just one week after setting a world record in the 1500m at the Florence Diamond League.

Kipyegon and pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis are among six reigning world champions set to compete in Paris, alongside Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Dominican 400m champion Marileidy Paulino, Serbian long jumper Ivana Vuleta, and Bahraini steeplechaser Winfried Yavi.

The Meeting de Paris will serve as an Olympic dress rehearsal for many top athletes, with German long jump star Malaika Mihambo also confirmed to compete at the Stade Charléty.

Yavi, who broke an Asian record on her way to the Diamond League title in Eugene last year, will face off against Kenya's Beatrice Chepkoech, who has held the steeplechase world record since clocking 8:44.32 at the Monaco Diamond League in 2018.
