A church official has confirmed to the media that Katie Gaudreau and Devin Joyce's wedding has been canceled following a devastating tragedy. NHL star Johnny Gaudreau and his younger brother, Matthew, passed away just hours before their sister Katie's wedding was scheduled to take place.

Katie and Devin were set to marry at 1:45 PM on Friday at a church in New Jersey. According to Katie's Instagram, the couple had rehearsed the ceremony the night before the tragedy.

Both Johnny and Matthew were to serve as groomsmen, with Johnny's children participating as the flower girl and ring bearer. Johnny's wife and their other sister were among the maids of honor.

It remains unclear whether the wedding has been postponed or rescheduled. Efforts to contact church officials for further details have not yet been successful.

As previously reported, Johnny, the Columbus Blue Jackets' top player, and Matthew were riding bicycles at 8:19 PM in Oldmans Township when they were struck from behind by an alleged drunk driver. Authorities say both brothers sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver, Sean Higgins, has been arrested and charged with two counts of death by auto.

Johnny was 31 years old, and Matthew was 29. Rest in peace.
