Both Chelsea's Wesley Fofana and Arsenal's William Saliba sustained injuries. According to the French Football Association, they were cut from the France squad on Sunday in preparation for the commencement of their individual Euro 2024 qualifying campaigns.

As France prepares to play the Netherlands at the Stade de France on Friday and then fly to play the Republic of Ireland in Dublin next Monday, Axel Disasi of Monaco and Jean-Clair Todibo of Nice have taken their positions.

Fofana, 22, received his first call-up from Didier Deschamps, but on Saturday, when competing for Chelsea against Everton in the Premier League, the player hurt himself.

Saliba, who represented France at the World Cup in Qatar, had to abandon the game between Arsenal and Sporting of Portugal on Thursday due to an injury.

Disasi, a late addition to France's World Cup roster, came on as a substitute in the title game, whilst Todibo, a former Barcelona defender, has never played for the senior team.

France will compete in Group B of the Euro 2024 qualifying tournament alongside Greece and Gibraltar, with the group winners advancing to the championships in Germany the following year.
