After a six-year absence, world champions Argentina dethroned Brazil on Thursday, April 6, and reclaimed the top spot in the FIFA rankings.

Argentina, which defeated France in the World Cup final last year in Qatar, earned the top slot after Lionel Scaloni's team defeated Curacao 7-0 and Panama 2-0 in friendlies.

The Netherlands and Ireland were defeated 4-0 and 1-0, respectively, by France in Euro 2024 qualifying matches, while Brazil dropped to third after losing 2-1 to Morocco in a friendly.

England came in fifth, Belgium was still in fourth place, the Netherlands was in sixth, Croatia was in seventh, and Italy was in eighth. Spain and Portugal rounded out the top 10.

Morocco remained at No. 11 to lead African teams, joining the Spanish and Portuguese in a 2030 World Cup bid strategy.

The Central African Republic moved up the most in the most recent rankings, up ten spots to 122nd.

The top Asian squad was Japan at No. 20, while Qatar, the 2022 World Cup host nation, dropped to No. 61.
