McRae Kimathi, a rising star in the Kenyan FIA rally circuit, is participating in this year's WRC Safari Rally using the knowledge he has acquired along the route.

Kimathi, the first Kenyan to compete in the FIA juvenile WRC championship in 2022, is currently participating in the WRC3 division alongside fellow FIA rally starters Jeremy Wahome and Hamza Anwar, and he says he is taking things one step at a time.

Let's see if it works this time; I'm attempting to do a planned rally. "You have to drive sensibly, you have to drive clean; you have to pace yourself, you don't have to be very very fast, so yeah those are some of the things I have learned in the Safari."

Kimathi, who had a double puncture on the Kedong stage, was one of many drivers who had trouble with punches yesterday (Friday), but he claims he will have to persevere through it all.

"There are big big problems; punctures have been a big issue, but it's something we will have to deal with Pirelli (the tire manufacturer)," the speaker continued. "But aside from that, maybe the rain will be a problem, but I prefer the wet conditions."

After Diego Dominguez and Jason Bailey, Kimathi, who seasoned Mwangi Kioni drives, finished day two in third place in the Ford Fiesta Rally 3 vehicles category 2.09.5.
