During the Wednesday night game between the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles in New York, a cameraman named Pete Stendel from the YES Network suffered an injury. In the bottom of the fifth inning, a baseball intended for first base missed its mark and struck Mr. Stendel on the head.

The incident caused a delay of approximately 15 minutes as the team's medical personnel attended to Mr. Stendel, providing him with the necessary care.

He raised his hand to gesture to the crowd of more than 36,000 as he was led off the field.

Gunnar Henderson, the Orioles' rookie shortstop, threw a ball that struck Mr. Stendel on the sidelines after it crossed first base.

The Twitter account for the Baltimore Orioles said the team wished him “a speedy recovery”.

The New York Yankees shared a video on Twitter capturing the moment when Mr. Stendel was being escorted off the field on a golf cart. In the footage, he can be seen raising his hand and flashing a peace sign, displaying a positive spirit despite the unfortunate incident.

Audience members could be heard chanting “MVP” – short for most valuable player – as he was taken away.
